Individuals who have experienced adverse or traumatic histories may benefit from a Trauma-Informed approach, where your practitioner is well-versed in general and unique biopsychosocial circumstances that may require greater sensitivity within the treatment protocols. Providing a safe and inclusive environment, as well as ongoing informed consent, and high attention to reducing any risks of re-traumatization are paramount within the practice.

As a Trauma-Informed Manual Therapist, I strive to create a safe and inclusive environment for all individuals, that is grounded in informed consent, equality, dignity, and respect. I acknowledge the importance to my learning and understanding that many individuals, especially those belonging to marginalized populations, have experienced disproportionate impacts of harm and stress that contribute to adverse outcomes, and which directly challenge the abilities and opportunities to thrive, heal, and access many resources. I am committed to continuing my learning and practice of the actions necessary to dismantle the systems that directly perpetuate inequities and harm.
I include this land acknowledgement with respect for this land that I am on today, and for the Indigenous people who have and continue to reside here on Turtle Island. The city known as Guelph is situated on treaty land, currently occupying the ancestral lands and territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Anishinaabek and the Haudenosaunee Peoples, within the Between the Lakes Purchase (Treaty 3). This area is steeped in rich indigenous history and home to many First Nations, Inuit and Métis people today.
